Being the thinker of your thoughts
Your thoughts are just that-thoughts. They come and go, like clouds passing through the sky. They can be powerful, but they don't define you. The real you is the one observing these thoughts, choosing which to engage with, and which to let drift away.

Building radical trust when you've been betrayed
Просмотров 5528 дней назад
In the age of social media, where misinformation and superficiality often reign, the concept of radical honesty stands as a beacon of authenticity. While I’d love to claim I coined this term, it's undoubtedly been around longer than I have. The inspiration for this idea comes from my growing frustration with the pervasive nonsense, lies, and misinformation flooding our social media feeds. We co...

I don't want to explain things. Some things can't be easily explained. When somebody is not available, then he or she will have their reasons. I don't want any explanations either. Some relationships work and some don't. Most relationships only work on certain levels.

I was very close to my best friend in high school. We managed to stay friends into our early 20s. He moved away so I would visit a couple times a year and always had a great time full of adventure and laughs, but I found each time we were together, I found myself desiring to leave for home earlier and earlier. One long road trip we had together really laid our personalities bare and there were many tense and angry interchanges as it was very clear we had very different ways of approaching challenges and very different values. At the end of the road trip, we were barely speaking and as I left for home, it seemed like our friendship had run its course but I didn't know how to end it. Our communication was infrequent and then a big life change for him resulted in my trying to help him and ultimately relocating and moving in with him. The first couple months were great, then our values and goals really started to clash. The last straw was when he became ridiculously jealous of a woman I had fallen in love with. I resolved to move out but he beat me to it by leaving me a note telling me to leave by the end of the month. Our final month living together was more lighthearted and I think he felt that distance would improve our friendship, but I had other plans. My last day there he went to work and I moved my things out, left the keys on his kitchen counter and locked the door behind me. When I shut that door, I envisioned the cord between he and I being cut and I knew that was the end. I ignored all efforts at communication and moved on with my life. A year later he got me on the phone and, trying to be as calm as possible, I told him our friendship was permanently over. He got very angry and took it very hard, almost like what you would expect between a man and woman breaking up. It was very difficult but necessary to be blunt with him because I had no desire to be around him and my only sentiments were anger and resentment. I struggled for years with that anger towards him but finally was able to let it go after about 10 years. 30 years have now passed and all the sourness is gone and I just have fond memories of our happier times. I still have zero desire to connect with him. Point of all this is -- examine the difficult relationships in your life and assess whether you should move on. I am convinced many people keep other people in their lives out of fear or courtesy. I now know that was the case for me and my friend, but severing that cord was the beginning of a new time of growth and joy in my life.

And walking away! Not in anger, though. Leave anger and revenge out of it. They are total waste of time. We need to be careful in who we surround ourselves with. Be more discriminating, don’t choose people who don’t choose you back or don’t share your values or send of integrity. Your sense of self worth will thank you

Sometimes it’s not even not returning a text, phone call or whatever. Sometimes, when i have been the one making most of the contact, most of the time, I have thought, FINALLY! You know, this feels too one sided to be a real friendship. And every time I have felt that I was right. I walk away silently and never hear peep from this person again. Follow your instincts! Not the right person for you! Congratulations to you for doing the right thing for yourself!

Walking away from 2 friends I've known for 18 years. We just aren't close anymore. They are also completely emotionally unavailable. They're my only two friends but they're friendship isn't helping me and only makes me feel worse during these past few years. I got diagnosed with PTSD and they literally had nothing to say, no words of comfort or trying to understand, then the next day they all forgot my birthday. So they'll probably forget we haven't even hung out in months when it hits them. I'm not going to fight for them. If they want to be friends then they'll have to stop being such assholes about everything.

When I started dating after getting divorced @ 50, one question helped me: "Is this relationship making each of us better people?" I have friends who 10-14 years ago got along well. Then I noticed a destructive pattern where messages were being ghosted. When I saw them at certain gatherings became cold. I had another friend who I got on well with in the first few years. Ten years later he’s now a stranger taking 2 months to answer a text. We were in contact up until the end of last summer. My last few messages were ignored. I haven’t reached out again. So going through my phone call list, I deleted a pile of useless numbers including his.

Saying things like done over even though accurate is too harsh for me I need a gentle sincere but genuine/authentic letdown

Lost the charger cable for the dog clippers. Can’t buy this cable as nowhere sells this specific cable- had to buy a whole new clipper set from eBay to get the cable. Now the dogs are needing cut again desperately. Go to the cupboard where I KNOW the cable is- and it’s not there. Searched high and low 3 times. It’s just gone from the face of the earth. I already KNOW that I’m going to have to go back to ebay and buy a THIRD set of dog clippers. Why is my life like this? We aren’t hoarders so it’s not like it could be just lying around under something. It’s simply GONE. I feel like punching myself in the face.

It sounds like your friend is sharing some insightful advice about prioritizing what truly matters in life. Here's a response that aligns with his perspective: "Absolutely, focusing on what truly enriches our lives and aligns with our values is key. I agree that we often spend too much energy on things that don't contribute much to our overall well-being. It's liberating to embrace the art of not giving a 'fuck' about trivial matters and instead investing our time and energy into what brings us joy and fulfillment. Thanks for sharing such valuable wisdom!" This response acknowledges and appreciates your friend's perspective while also expressing agreement and understanding. It shows that you value their insights and are open to aligning your thinking with theirs. ❤❤❤.. All these things made my heart happy. Thank you very much for this.

I had to let go of my Russian friend in Moscow because of her support for Putin, which I naively hadn't even considered previously - and the war has made that worse - so I had to send her a 'fond farewell' message last week, and then realised I was grieving. This is the first video that I've actually found helpful. Everyone talking about putting a bubble you around you that's absolutely impossible you cannot just switch off and put a bubble around you and stop feeling everything that you feel all the time. But the videos given me a great realization and to insight As to the type of feelings on people that I respond to the easiest that negative feelings are feelings that tend to be more intense and more powerful and the influence of the environment itself with a natural longing and desire to love people how can one love people when all you do is feel or their negative traits but their negative traits are humanistic of this material plain and we all feel them because we've all been bought up in a world that's ruined us. A world that's trained us to think about I am and be individualistic but selfish I world that teaches us not to think about our community and to think about our planet and our environment. A world that doesn't teach us our true spirituality and identity of where we actually come from the saw the Earth itself. So how can we expect to feel many positive feelings when everyone around us is switched off I'm not even aware of their own feelings. It's making me realize that there needs to be more in a work for me myself to be able to feel people's good feelings to be able to feel and recognize the I know there needs to be good without bad and there is good and bad within everyone but it takes a lot more intuition and feeling to be able to feel the good feelings as they are so rare. Seems so in my own experience with past karma's Maybe the feelings that we feel the next experience are the feelings that we need in this lifetime.

Please spread what you have said here far and wide! YES! So right. Since making this film I now also have a better understanding of cognitive empathy 'Understanding how someone feels' to the 'emotional empathy' feeling it with them. I used to think feeling it with them was a gift you gave, but it's enough to 'get it' with another human. Far less exhausting and now I seek happy people to build an emotional connection with that asks nothing of anyone. Keep doing your do xxx

If we don't know how to stop finding life difficult and scary, it is emotionally easier in some ways to find more difficult and scary things than to move past the emotions. All that doomscrolling justifies our scaredness. It's like when people seemingly need to tell you how great their life is - at some point, are they trying to convince you, or themselves?
